Reb Saunders seems to like Reuven more than his own son.
Reb Saunders raise his son in silence, and then uses Reuven as a means of communication between him and his son.
Both Danny and Reuven are intelligent individuals, but have many differences in their personality and dreams.
Reuven really helps out Danny in Hirsch College, they seem to need eachother's friendship.
The two different faiths tear their friendship apart.
Its interesting how both boys want to take a different life path than what their fathers anticipated.
Reb Saunders apology for the way he raised Danny seems like the only way to end the book on a good note.
